Biography
Andy studied composition at Glasgow University under the tutelage of Scottish composer Bill Sweeney.
He graduated in 2001 with a BMus (Hons) degree and went on to receive a Diploma in Pianoforte performance from the Associated Board of the Royal School of Music.
After graduating Andy worked as a music lecturer and multi-instrumentalist performer. He regularly plays piano, guitar, bass guitar and saxophone as both a session musician and a live performer.
As well as his role as an instrumentalist and music educator, Andy works as a freelance composer and arranger from his hi-tech studio near Glasgow. His compositions cover a diverse range of musical styles. Owing to his classical training coupled with a vast experience in the contemporary music scene, Andy is equally at home writing for orchestra, rock and pop ensembles, and creating sample based scores.
Andy’s skill and experience as a multi-instrumentalist enables first-rate recordings to be produced without the need for session musicians when the music budget is limited.
Recent commissions include work for EMI Production Music, Sony/ATV and SKY with music appearing on major TV networks including BBC, STV and Sky1.
